Africana studies collection

Artists: Chanelle Wilson, Nyemady Wright, Beatrice Carey

These pieces were created through pop-up painting sessions hosted by Africana Studies, in November 2020. During the strike and in solidarity with student organizers, Africana Studies wanted to create space for students to channel their creative energy. With a theme of resistance, teaching artists Wright and Carey facilitated two out of five different sessions, between Bryn Mawr and Haverford Colleges. Channeling Audre Lorde and symbols of Black Power, these pieces were designed to remind us that love is a part of revolution and so is self care.
